Cap and trade

The new Government has stated their intent to cancel cap and trade, however the details on how and when are still being confirmed. There are a number of changes that need to happen before the cap and trade charge can be removed from natural gas bills, most importantly we require direction from the Ontario Energy Board to do so. Enbridge Gas will provide additional details once they are known.

How is the cap and trade cost calculated?

For home owners the cost of cap and trade is calculated by multiplying the cap and trade rate by the amount of natural gas you use. This cost is reflected in the Delivery to You charge on your bill. The average home owner will contribute $80 more each year towards helping lower levels of greenhouse gas.
