Enbridge Gas Inc. (Enbridge Gas) is undertaking an environmental study for the Eganville Community Expansion Project located within the Townships of Bonnechere Valley, North Algona Wilberforce and Admaston/Bromley.

The study is being conducted in accordance with the Ontario Energy Board (OEB) Environmental Guidelines for the Location, Construction, and Operation of Hydrocarbon Pipelines and Facilities in Ontario, 7th Edition. Once the study is complete, Enbridge Gas will apply to the OEB for approval to construct the project, otherwise identified as a Leave To Construct (LTC).

The Project will involve the installation of a supply lateral composed of approximately 2.5 kilometers (km) of 4-inch steel and 19.6 kilometers (km) of a combination of 8-inch and 6-inch polyethylene natural gas pipeline. There will also be a distribution system up to 22 kilometers (km) of a combination of 6-inch, 4-inch and 2-inch polyethylene natural gas pipeline. In addition, a pressure reducing station is required and will be constructed along the supply lateral. The project is planned to be installed mainly within the existing municipal right-of-way with additional temporary working space potentially required for lay-down, storage and excess soils management.

In addition, there also exist 3 alternatives to the Project. Option 1 would see a change to the supply lateral where up to 22.5 kilometers (km) of a combination of 4-inch, 6-inch and 8-inch polyethylene natural gas pipeline will be installed and Option 2 would see the same change to the first part of the supply lateral but the second part of the supply lateral would change where up to 28.5 kilometers (km) of a combination of 4-inch, 6-inch and 8-inch polyethylene natural gas pipeline will be installed. Option 3 would see the same supply lateral as the preliminary preferred route along with the second part of the supply lateral of Option 1 however the connection between supply laterals would go from Bulgers Corners, south along Bulger Road to Highway 60 for a total of 5 kilometers (km).

We’re working in many project areas across Ontario as we prepare for future natural gas community expansion projects as part of the Ontario Government’s Natural gas Expansion Program. Area residents may see our crews completing soil sampling, land surveying, test digs and holding field meetings, which are all activities that help inform our project routes and timelines for construction. This pre-work is ongoing, and you may occasionally notice equipment in operation, and some noise. We apologize for any inconvenience this might cause. This work is being conducted by Enbridge Gas employees, or contractors working on our behalf. All employees and contractors carry identification at all times.
