The Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte and Shannonville residents will soon be able to benefits from access to a cost-effective and reliable energy source for their homes and businesses.

The Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte & Shannonville Community Expansion Project, located within the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory in Ontario, will enable Enbridge Gas Inc. (Enbridge Gas) to provide natural gas to area residents.

The Project is funded by $8,080,907 from the Ontario Government’s Natural Gas Expansion Program, in addition to the system expansion surcharge (23 cents/m3 to be paid over a term of 40 years by all customers served by the Project).

The Project involves the installation of approximately 17.3 kilometers (km) of a combination of 2-inch and 4-inch polyethylene natural gas pipeline. In addition, a station rebuild is required to accommodate additional customers onto the distribution system and is being constructed at the intersection of York Road and Highway 49, in the northwest corner. The project is being installed mainly within the existing road allowance with additional temporary working space potentially required for lay-down, storage and excess soils management.

The Project is currently under construction, and you may notice equipment in operation, and some noise. We apologize for any inconvenience this might cause. This work is being conducted by Enbridge Gas employees, or contractors working on our behalf. All employees and contractors carry identification at all times.
