Project update

The proposed Seaton Employment Lands Pipeline Project is on hold, due to a change in the customer’s preferences. At this time, we are considering options for the development of this area, but will not proceed with the project in its current iteration. We will advise should the project be resurrected in an alternate form or should the situation change.

Enbridge Gas has identified the need to construct approximately 3.5 km of natural gas pipeline in the City of Pickering, Ontario. The proposed project stems from a customer request for the provisions of gas distribution service to a large assembly plant. The assembly plant is to be constructed on the Seaton Employment Lands in the City of Pickering, Ontario.

The project will require the construction of approximately 3.5 km of nominal pipe size (“NPS”) 8 inch high pressure (“HP”) steel natural gas main. The project will tie into an existing natural gas main.

A preliminary preferred route (“PPR”) for the project has been identified, in addition to two alternative routes. The PPR originates at the intersection of Sideline 16 and Highway 7 where the NPS 8 HP steel pipeline will tie into an existing natural gas main that runs along Sideline 16. From there it will travel west along Highway 7 to the location of the proposed assembly plant.

Alternative route one (“AR1”) will originate the intersection of Sideline 16 and Whitevale Road where the NPS 8 HP steel pipeline will tie into an existing natural gas main that runs along Sideline 16. From there it will travel west along Whitevale Road to the intersection of Whitevale Road and Sideline 24. From there it will travel north along Sideline 24 to the intersection of Sideline 24 and Highway 7. From there it will travel east along Highway 7 to the location of the proposed assembly plant.

Alternative route two (“AR2”) will originate near the intersection of Sideline 16 and Highway 407. From there it will travel west along Highway 407 to Sideline 22. From there it will travel north along Sideline 22 to the intersection of Sideline 22 and Highway 7. From there it will travel west along Highway 7 to the location of the proposed assembly plant.
