Enbridge Gas will take care of everything outside your home (up to your meter) to get access to natural gas in your home.We will assess where your home is in relation to an underground natural gas line and whether it can be connected to your home. In addition, we will provide a construction estimate to determine the cost to connect your home to the natural gas pipeline.
Once you’ve decided on an HVAC contractor and have decided which appliances you will connect to natural gas, they can complete and submit the Enbridge Gas application
Enbridge Gas will schedule the installation once the accurately completed gas application is received.

Natural gas main line in front of your residential property
There is a network of natural gas pipelines underground that give homes access to natural gas.
If we determine that there is an existing natural gas main line in front of the residential property where the service line and meter can be installed, Enbridge Gas will provide and install one service line per property address at no charge to new customers provided that:
- For service line installation - the distance between the Owner’s property line and the front wall of house/building is 20 meters or less in total length; and
- For meter installation - the distance between the front wall of house/building and the selected meter location is 2 meters or less
- If either the service or meter installation is over the above distance, there will be a charge of $32 per meter (plus applicable taxes).
Note: Inaccurate measurements or in-fields changes will result in additional charges.
No natural gas main line in front of your residential property
If we determine that there is not an existing natural gas main line in front of the residential property, the customer will be notified. A cost analysis will be completed to determine if an additional expense is required to add the natural gas main line extension. A cost estimate will be provided to the customer.

Your HVAC contractor will install your natural gas equipment and appliances and connect the supply line to your gas meter.
It's important that you do not disconnect any current heating equipment and you maintain your current heating systems and fuel contracts until natural gas installation is ready for you to use.
For Residential Customers, the installation may take 7 to 12 weeks after processing the completed gas application (for street service installations where a gas main already exists in front of a property). However, installation times may increase in the fall and early winter. In addition, locates of underground pipes and cables before digging or excavating are required.
For Commercial / Industrial Customers, the timeline will be longer. Please contact your Customers Connections Field Representative for timing.
Keep in mind - you are required to connect the appliances in your home to natural gas within 6 months of the Enbridge Gas installation. Otherwise, you will be charged $2,500 to help recover the cost of installation on your property.
