Construction heat refers to the use of natural gas prior to initial installation inspections, either during construction or finishing stages, and prior to homeowner occupancy. It includes the inspection of an appliance approved for construction heat as outlined by manufacturer’s certified installation instructions, local code, Technical Standards & Safety Authority (TSSA) requirements, and Enbridge Gas policy.

The foundation is poured and capped.

The building is unoccupied and under construction.

The site will provide safe operating conditions for the appliance being activated.

The appliance being activated for construction heat is installed and connected to the meter set.

The meter is protected from damage during the construction process and safely accessible.

Safe access to and from the construction site is provided.

Safe access in and out of the building and basement is provided.

We're responsible to unlock a gas service that is off and locked, no other party can activate a gas service that is locked.

Appliance and/or equipment set up and commissioning is the sole responsibility of the TSSA registered Heating Contractor/Installer. Builders are to ensure the setup, proper operation and commissioning is completed. We are not responsible for final setup and commissioning of appliances under any circumstances.
