We take care of everything

Tenants apply directly to the program

We work with authorized delivery agents across Ontario to manage the application process. Your tenants will need to provide proof of income—all of which will remain confidential.

We’ll need your written consent

If your tenants are eligible, our delivery agent will reach out to verify your information, ask questions about your property and answer any questions you may have.

Free, professional installation

If we find that your rental property is eligible for free upgrades, our qualified contractors will install them at a time that’s convenient for you and/or your tenants. It’s quick, clean and there’s no cost to you.

Home energy assessment is scheduled

A delivery agent will visit your rental property to check whether it’s properly insulated. Either you or your tenants must be home.

Follow-up visit

The same delivery agent will visit your rental property again to make sure everything’s working properly and to provide energy-saving tips to your tenants.

Frequently asked questions

Can I apply on behalf of my tenant(s)?

No. As eligibility criteria includes household income, tenants must apply directly to the program to provide proof of income and other relevant documentation.

I have multiple units in my rental property—do all tenants need to apply?

Yes, all tenants must apply separately and meet the income eligibility criteria to qualify for free energy-saving upgrades.

What do I need to provide as written permission?

Once it has been determined that your tenant meets the income eligibility criteria, our program delivery agent will contact you to complete and sign the Home Winterproofing Program participant form.

Do I have to be on-site during the home energy assessment or installation?

Either you or your tenant must be home for the home energy assessment and installation.

Are your delivery agents and contractors authorized?

We work with delivery agents across Ontario to offer this program. They are authorized to work with you every step of the way and are available to answer any questions throughout the process.

How many visits can my tenants expect?

We’ll need to schedule at least three visits: the first, to assess whether your rental property needs energy-saving upgrades; the second, to install the upgrades; and a final follow-up visit.
