Natural gas is a great value for your energy dollar

Natural gas is a dependable and affordable option, at about half the price of oil or propane and 48 percent less expensive than electric resistance (for example, baseboard heating).* Like other utilities, we buy wholesale to then deliver natural gas to you—you pay what we pay, without markup.

You can find information on our most current residential and business rates online, anytime.

Your questions answered

Here are explanations of some of your most pressing questions.

Number one

What’s changing May 1, 2024?

Starting May 1, 2024, residential customers will see a decrease in their natural gas bills ranging from about $1 to $11 per year, depending on their location. The overall impact of these changes will depend on how much natural gas you use and whether or not you purchase your gas from a gas marketer.

Customers will see changes to the customer charge, delivery, transportation and gas supply charges on their bill.

Number two

Didn’t rates just change in April?

On April 1, 2024, Enbridge Gas adjusted the rates customers pay to reflect changes in the expected market price of natural gas supplies and transportation services. We buy these items from the market and adjust the related rates every three months (January, April, July and October). This current rate change reflects changes in expected costs to store natural gas and deliver it to customers through our distribution system in 2024.

Number three

Why is the monthly customer charge increasing?

The costs of delivering natural gas to customers is recovered in our customer charge and delivery charges. The customer charge has increased to partially recover some of the fixed costs associated with maintaining a safe and reliable natural gas distribution system in 2024. For certain rates, the monthly customer charge also increased to recover a redistribution of costs from the delivery to you charge to the monthly customer charge. This results in a corresponding decrease in the delivery charges for these rate classes.
