Air Compressor Heat Recovery Calculator

Compressed air gives off heat. Without a compressed air heat recovery system, your plant will simply dispose of this excess heat when as much as 80% of it can be recovered and used for plant heating, process heating, hot water and other applications which provide an appropriate heat sink. This also reduces the load on the cooling tower.

Air Curtains Calculator

Air curtains prevent the outside air from entering and inside air from exiting openings into heated or cooled areas. They are typically used at exterior shipping and receiving doors or interior doors between plant areas of different temperatures. Air curtains can contribute to energy savings through control of air transfer, increased employee comfort and elimination of ice and fog in cold storage areas.

Bake and Dry Off Oven Exhaust Reduction Calculator

Oven exhaust volumes are typically chosen to suit the purge volume requirements to allow air changes in a reasonable amount of time, which leaves the oven in an over ventilated condition during normal operation. Modern energy efficient ovens typically include a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) to allow distinct operating modes for purge and operational exhaust volumes. The energy savings available by incorporating a VFD into an oven exhaust control system can be an attractive retrofit for older ovens that are still operating well.

Condensing Economizer Calculator

One effective way of recovering waste heat is through the use of a condensing economizer. In fact, by installing a condensing economizer over a traditional economizer, companies can improve overall heat recovery and steam system efficiency by up to 10%. The main difference between the two types of economizers is that condensing economizers operate where the temperature of the flue gases can be lowered enough to recover both sensible and latent heat. This results in additional heat recovered and potential savings.

Destratification Fans Calculator

Heat rises. Destratification fans are designed to redistribute the heated air from the unoccupied ceiling space back to the floor level. The use of destratification fans can therefore, reduce excess strain on your heating system, lower your energy consumption and associated costs and improve employee comfort levels within your facility.

Feedwater Economizer Calculator

Feedwater economizers transfer waste heat from the flue gas to warm incoming feedwater. Applied correctly, an economizer can reduce fuel requirements and pay for itself in less than two years.

Greenhouse Gas Emissions Calculator

This calculator helps identify the reduced greenhouse gas emissions associated with implementing a project. It also expresses the savings identified in terms of numbers of vehicles that would need to be taken off of the road for a year to achieve the project savings.

Heating and Ventilation Calculators

There are a variety of measures that can be taken to significantly enhance the efficiency of your HVAC system, including: reducing HVAC operating hours, limiting heating of unoccupied spaces, examining thermostat controls and locations, undergoing an air balance assessment, minimizing heat losses, updating your equipment or exploring different technologies to heat and ventilate your facility and employing heat recovery.

Insulation Calculator

Poorly insulated piping, valves, storage tanks and gas equipment causes heat loss, which wastes energy, reduces plant efficiencies, and costs our customers each year.

Low Temperature Chemical Wash Calculator

Recent innovations in pre-treatment chemistry have provided low- temperature chemicals that can greatly reduce, and in some applications even eliminate the need for heating. Low temperature chemicals help provide significant energy savings if your finish performance requirements are a match for their application.

Payback Period Calculator

The Payback Period calculator identifies how much time it would take for the savings associated with implementing a project to cover the total cost of the project. In general, the shorter the payback period, the easier it is to justify.

Rapid Air Doors Calculator

Rapid air doors only open when needed and quickly/automatically shut when the entryway is no longer in use. They are typically used at exterior shipping and receiving doors or interior doors between plant areas of different temperatures. Rapid air doors can contribute to energy savings through control of air transfer, increased employee comfort and the elimination of ice and fog in cold storage areas.
