Enbridge Gas is replacing a section of its system located in a suburb southwest of Salt Lake City known as Feeder Line 36.
Feeder lines are larger, steel pipelines that supply smaller main and individual service lines that connect to homes and businesses.
Project overview
Need for the project: The Feeder Line 36 replacement project is in West Jordan and South Jordan, from Bacchus Highway to 4000 West along Old Bingham Highway. This project will enhance the infrastructure that supplies all our nearby customers and meet the growing needs of a nearby data center. This project will upgrade a 6” steel pipeline, originally installed in the 1980s, with a 12” steel pipeline, with eight times the gas carrying capacity of the existing line to meet these increasing needs.
Location: This section of natural gas pipeline is in West Jordan and South Jordan, along Old Bingham Highway. Please see the map for the route and associated construction phases.
Construction schedule: We strive to complete our work safely, quickly, and with as little distribution to the community as possible. Our crews are scheduled to start this work in early August 2025 and finish in the late fall.
To expedite construction, multiple crews may work simultaneously at various locations, and may perform nighttime and weekend work. Area residents will not experience an interruption in their natural gas service.
To provide room for crews and equipment, some temporary lane restrictions will be necessary. Our traffic control plan was reviewed and approved by West Jordan City. Please drive carefully and obey all signs and flaggers. To avoid congestion in construction zones, motorists are advised to use alternate routes when possible and to allow plenty of travel time to get where they're going. At all times, our crews will make every effort to maintain access to businesses and driveways in construction zones.
We appreciate your patience.

Construction process
Enbridge Gas and our contractor, M & M Welding & Fabrication, are committed to completing this project safely and on schedule while minimizing as much as possible any inconvenience to local businesses and residents. To accomplish this, some work may be performed at night and on weekends. This will reduce impacts on morning and evening commutes. We will adhere to all county noise-reduction ordinances.
We have worked closely with the cities of West Jordan and South Jordan to obtain all required permits and approvals. In conjunction with the pipeline installation project, the impacted traffic lanes will also be resurfaced.
Every effort will be made to maintain access to businesses and driveways in construction zones at all times. No interruption to residents' natural gas service is anticipated during this project.
