Enbridge Gas is replacing a section of its natural gas system in the Millcreek area known as Feeder Line 046. Feeder lines are larger steel pipelines that deliver natural gas to smaller distribution mains and individual service lines that supply homes and businesses.
Project overview
The Feeder Line 046 replacement project will run along Wasatch Boulevard from approximately 4500 South to Upland Drive (3800 South). From there, it will continue under I-215 and head north to 3300 South, following Virginia Way, Millcreek Canyon Road, Plaza Way, Cummings Drive, and Terrace Drive before reconnecting to 3300 South. The project will continue east and end near 2700 East and 3300 South.
This work is necessary to meet growing natural gas demand in the Millcreek and Wasatch Front areas and to ensure we can continue providing safe, reliable natural gas service. Replacing older infrastructure also allows us to improve system monitoring and long-term maintenance.
Location
This section of new natural gas pipeline will follow the route described above, beginning near 4500 South on Wasatch Boulevard and ending near 2700 East and 3300 South.
Construction schedule
Crews are scheduled to begin construction in early 2026, with work expected to continue into late fall or winter 2026. Dates may shift based on coordination with city projects, contractor scheduling, weather conditions, and other unforeseen factors.
To help expedite work, multiple crews may be active in different locations at the same time, and some nighttime or weekend construction may be required. No interruptions to natural gas service are expected during this project.
To provide space for crews and equipment, temporary lane restrictions—especially at intersections—will be necessary. Please drive carefully and follow all posted signs and instructions from flaggers. When possible, consider using alternate routes and allow extra travel time through the area.
Access to homes, driveways, and businesses will be maintained as much as possible, and crews will work to minimize disruption.
We appreciate your patience during this important safety and reliability project.
