What is the rate case and how will customers be impacted?

You may have heard that Enbridge Gas Ohio is seeking a rate increase. We filed a request with the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) on Dec. 31, 2025.

This is a normal process for a utility to go through. The PUCO reviews and approves all our delivery costs to ensure the rates we charge to you are fair and reasonable.

Visit our rates and tariffs page to view current information for residential, business (nonresidential), and commercial customers.

Whether we’re keeping your home cozy through the coldest months, helping you prepare meals, or making laundry day a little easier, we’re always here to keep your life warm, comfortable, and running smoothly.

Frequently asked questions

Like many of you, we’ve faced new and higher costs the past few years. The majority of our request is related to the increased costs of financing investment in our system, as well as reconcile tax accounts to reflect post-retirement plans.

Construction materials like pipelines, meters, and other important assets have gone up in price, along with labor and construction expenses. A portion of the request also reflects the movement of existing charges from riders into base rates.

The recovery of these costs allows us to continue to safely provide the reliable service you expect and allows us to continue to invest in the energy foundations for Ohio’s future.

We filed the rate case application on Dec. 31, 2025, and the process can take a year or more to complete.

The PUCO will lead the timing of the rate case and schedule public hearings throughout our service area in 2026 to give customers, elected officials and other interested parties the opportunity to evaluate and comment on our rate proposals.

Our 2025 filing seeks a residential increase of $7.60 per month, which is an approximately 8.8% increase in the average monthly residential total bill.

New gas distribution rates won't go into effect until sometime in 2027.

Additionally, this rate increase will not impact the calculation of amounts due for income-eligible customers on the Percentage of Income Payment Plan (PIPP).
