More efficiency and savings. Lower climate impact.

Did you know that heat for buildings is the second largest source of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in Ontario?1

A residential natural gas heat pump system is an efficient, economical way to heat your home and water, helping you save more energy and lower your carbon footprint. With an annual fuel utilization efficiency (AFUE) of 140 percent2, a natural gas heat pump lowers energy use and greenhouse gas emissions compared to a conventional natural gas furnace or boiler.

Limited-time offer: Get a $10,000 rebate3 to install a residential natural gas heat pump

Enbridge gas is providing up to $10,000 in rebate to help eligible homeowners install the latest natural gas heat pump. A gas heat pump is an efficient, economical way to heat your home and water while lowering energy use and carbon footprint.

How residential natural gas heat pumps support a clean energy future

Residential natural gas heat pumps can be a pathway to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 as the natural gas distribution system is decarbonized with carbon-neutral fuels such as renewable natural gas.

Lower energy use and greenhouse gas emissions compared to conventional furnaces and boilers2.

Compatible with renewable natural gas, further reducing emissions.

Provides space heating and hot water in one.

Exceed building codes and standards with efficiency greater than 100 percent.4

A natural gas heat pump system consists of:

Number 1
A gas heat pump unit located outside the home that draws heat from the outdoor air.
Number 2
An air handling unit which helps distribute the heated air throughout your home.
Number 3
Optional upgrade A water storage tank that provides provides domestic hot water.

The air handling unit and water storage tank will be installed in your furnace room or basement. The gas heat pump system will replace both your conventional natural gas furnace and water heater.

How do natural gas heat pumps work?

Flame icon
Gas heat pumps use natural gas as a primary energy source and capture energy from ambient outdoor air as an additional energy source. This heat is then transferred indoors to warm indoor air and water.

By extracting energy from outdoor air as an additional source and moving heat instead of generating it, gas heat pumps achieve an energy output greater than their input, resulting in efficiencies of over 100 percent.

You will not need a backup heating system. Gas heat pumps keep your home warm all winter, even on the coldest days.

Frequently asked questions

Please contact Flow Sales, the manufacturer’s representative, at 416-660-7123 or email orderdesk@flowsales.com for details on how to get involved.

The cost will be determined by the contractor after a site visit. Please note that the rebate will not cover the full cost of the system—there will be an out-of-pocket portion for the homeowner.

The gas heat pump provides space heating and domestic hot water, but it does not provide cooling. However, it is compatible with air conditioning systems and can be integrated with your existing AC unit to maintain your current cooling capabilities.

As part of this program, participants will receive a 2-year extended warranty covering parts and labour from the contractor. This extended coverage begins immediately after the expiration of the manufacturer’s standard warranty at no extra cost. This extended warranty is in addition to the manufacturer’s existing coverage, which includes a 10-year equipment warranty on the sealed system of the gas heat pump, the storage tank, and the air handler. Please refer to the manufacturer’s website for full warranty details.

Savings will vary depending on several factors, including your existing HVAC equipment, home size, vintage, number of occupants, location, and heating/cooling loads. Please consult with your contractor after the initial site visit for more details.

1 Source: Canada Energy Regulator - Ontario’s 2019 emission sources.
2 Equipment efficiency, potential energy savings and greenhouse gas emission reductions are based on manufacturer’s specifications. See stonemountaintechnologies.com/products/gas-heat-pump/ for more information
3 Subject to change. Rebate amount cannot exceed 100 percent of the installed costs. Additional terms and conditions may apply. Eligibility will be determined by a licensed participating contractor.
4 As heat pumps use energy to transfer heat rather than generate it, the resulting efficiency in terms of heat output is greater than 100 percent.
