Bringing natural gas to your community
Enbridge Gas Inc. (Enbridge Gas) has retained Stantec to undertake an environmental study for the Cedar Springs Road Community Expansion Project located within the City of Burlington in the Region of Halton.
The study is being conducted in accordance with the Ontario Energy Board (OEB) Environmental Guidelines for the Location, Construction, and Operation of Hydrocarbon Pipelines and Facilities in Ontario, 8th Edition. Once the study is complete, Enbridge Gas will apply to the OEB for approval of the project via a Leave to Construct (LTC) Exemption Application.
The Cedar Springs Community Expansion Project will enable Enbridge Gas to provide natural gas to up to 103 forecasted customers over a 10-year period.
The project is supported by about $2.5 million from the Ontario Government, in addition to the expansion surcharge (23 cents/m3 paid over up to 40 years by all project customers).
Preliminary preferred route
The project includes up to 6 km of new natural gas pipeline within the road allowances of Britannia Road, Cedar Springs Road, Cedar Springs Court, Side Road 2, and Medad Springs Court.
We are working in many project areas across Ontario as we prepare for future natural gas community expansion projects as part of the Ontario Government’s Natural Gas Expansion Program. Area residents may see our crews completing soil sampling, land surveying, test digs and holding field meetings, which are all activities that help inform our project routes and timelines for construction. This pre-work is ongoing, and you may occasionally notice equipment in operation, and some noise. We apologize for any inconvenience this might cause. This work is being conducted by Enbridge Gas employees, or contractors working on our behalf. All employees and contractors carry identification at all times.
