Enbridge Gas Inc. (Enbridge Gas) has now completed the construction of the Haldimand Shores Community Expansion Project. This project provides affordable natural gas to the community in the Township of Alnwick/Haldimand (the Project). The Project involved the construction of approximately 7.8kilometers (km) of natural gas pipeline in the road allowance of the following roads: Lakeshore, Shawano, North Shore, Station, Kanata, Keewatin, Nawautin, Fox Run, and Killdeer.
Project close-out activities such as clean-up and service installations have also been completed. We apologize for any inconvenience this might have caused.
Bringing natural gas to your community
When it comes to making decisions about your home, it’s good to have a choice. Enbridge Gas is making it possible for Haldimand Shores to connect to natural gas. Count on instant heat, endless hot water and uninterrupted energy year round—even through our toughest winters.
This project includes the construction of approximately 8 km of natural gas pipeline, made possible by:
- A $1/ month contribution from new and existing natural gas utility customers in Ontario, which was implemented on July 1, 2019.
- An expansion surcharge of $0.23 per cubic metre of natural gas used will apply to all customers who connect to the community expansion pipe until the end of the expansion surcharge term.
- For example if a residential home used 2,320 m3 of natural gas per year this charge would be $0.23 m3 x 2,320 m3 / 12 months = $44/month.
- The ES is typically higher in the winter months when the heating system is in use vs summer months.
Check back often for the latest information about the project.
