How does it work?
Enrollment is easy
Receive $75 when you sign up, and an extra $20 if you enroll before March 31, 2026. Plus, get another $20 next winter if you stay enrolled.
Your smart thermostat does all the work
Enbridge Gas will trigger smart thermostat adjustments on certain days between Dec. 1 and March 31 of each year. During an adjustment, your smart thermostat will be automatically adjusted by up to 2 C for up to four hours and will return to its original temperature settings after a few hours.
You’re always in control
You’ll receive notifications from your smart thermostat manufacturer before each adjustment and can change the temperature at any time through your smart thermostat or smart thermostat app.
Minimum threshold for participation
For the 2026/27 winter season, participants qualify for the $20 seasonal reward if they take part in at least half of the smart thermostat adjustments between Dec. 1, 2026 and March 31, 2027. Participants who consistently opt out—by overriding temperature setbacks or taking their smart thermostats offline during an adjustment—may be removed from the program.

Weekday schedule
Adjustments happen on weekdays from Dec. 1 to March 31, never on weekends or holidays.
Who can participate?
This exclusive offer is available to homeowners in Sarnia and Point Edward with postal codes starting with N7S, N7V, N7W, N7X, N7T (north of Highway 25 and west of Highway 26) and Brights Grove with postal code N0N 1C0.
You can join if:

You have an active Enbridge Gas account.

You primarily heat your home with a natural gas central heating system.

You have an eligible, working Wi-Fi-enabled smart thermostat installed in your home.

You live in a single-detached, semi-detached, row house/townhome, mobile home on a permanent foundation, or a unit in a multi-unit residential building where you control the smart thermostat.
OR

You operate a microbusiness in a former residential dwelling with residential-sized HVAC equipment.

Which devices are eligible?
Homeowners can join the program with a Wi-Fi-enabled smart thermostat connected to a natural gas central heating system. Eligible devices are listed below.

Enbridge Gas is running a limited-time pilot program, Sarnia Saves, to better understand the collective impact of smart thermostat adjustments on peak period natural gas demand. Find out why we are delivering this program.
Can I participate in this program and Peak Perks?
Yes, customers participating in this program can also participate in Peak Perks. Peak Perks is a program from Save on Energy that rewards electricity customers in Ontario for opting into brief smart thermostat adjustments during periods of peak electricity demand in the summer.
Is Enbridge Gas working with a third party to deliver the program?
Enbridge Gas is working with an authorized third-party partner, EnergyHub, to deliver the Sarnia Saves program. When enrolling, you will be redirected to a sign-up page hosted and managed by EnergyHub. You may also receive program updates or responses to email inquiries from EnergyHub directly.
