We're bringing natural gas infrastructure to rural communities.

Enbridge Gas Utah has selected South Rim as the next potential candidate in the ongoing rural expansion initiative. The extension will provide additional residential, commercial and industrial customers and is anticipated that the natural gas service would help the city's expected and potential growth.

This project will be a significant investment into the infrastructure and community, including running over 12 miles of intermittent high pressure of pipeline and almost 2.5 miles of high pressure pipeline throughout South Rim to homes and businesses.

Frequently asked questions

Multiple rural communities were surveyed to determine the interest in natural gas. All potential communities were evaluated by a number of criteria, including:

  • Project cost
  • The number of potential new customers
  • The impact on current Enbridge Gas Utah operations and current infrastructure

With Public Service Commission (PSC) approval, Enbridge Gas Utah will expand to South Rim as the next community in the rural expansion initiative. It is anticipated that approximately 350 homes and businesses will receive natural gas service as part of this expansion. Enbridge Gas Utah also anticipates that natural gas will also help this area’s expected and potential growth.

This project will be the sixth proposed in the rural expansion initiative. Construction and installation of gas mains are anticipated to begin in mid-2026, pending regulatory approval, with completion in late fall of 2026.

The company views rural expansion under House Bill 422 as an ongoing program with each project subject to Utah Public Service Commission approval.
