The Selwyn Community Expansion Project will enable Enbridge Gas Inc. (Enbridge Gas) to provide natural gas to the Town of Selwyn. This project is funded by approximately $1.7 million from the Ontario Government.

For this project to proceed, a Leave-to-Construct application approval will be required from the Ontario Energy Board (OEB). Federal, provincial, and municipal permits may also be required along with potential permits from the Otonabee Region Conservation Authority (ORCA). The following facilities will be required and subject to Leave-to-Construct approval:

  • Construction of approximately 8.4 km of Nominal Pipe Size (NPS) 6” and 2” High Performance Polyethylene (HPPE) pipe;
  • A station upgrade at Bridge Rd and Kelly Blvd; and
  • Tie in to NPS 4” HPPE system at Eighth Line Smith and Selwyn Rd.At this time, it is not anticipated that this line will tie into the Lakefield system.

We’re working in many project areas across Ontario as we prepare for future natural gas community expansion projects as part of the Ontario Government’s Natural gas Expansion Program. Area residents may see our crews completing soil sampling, land surveying, test digs and holding field meetings, which are all activities that help inform our project routes and timelines for construction. This pre-work is ongoing, and you may occasionally notice equipment in operation, and some noise. We apologize for any inconvenience this might cause. This work is being conducted by Enbridge Gas employees, or contractors working on our behalf. All employees and contractors carry identification at all times.
