Smart energy pairing for reliable heating and cooling

Hybrid rooftop units (RTUs) integrate advanced technologies to deliver efficient, climate control in commercial spaces. While most commonly installed on rooftops, RTUs can also be mounted on the ground.

Incentives for hybrid RTUs upgrades

Get rewarded with pre-set incentives based on your heating capacity*.

Heating capacity (kBtu/hr) Incentive amount
≤ 32 kBtu/hr $1,000/unit
33 – 77 kBtu/hr $2,500/unit
78 – 110 kBtu/hr $4,000/unit
111 – 200 kBtu/hr $8,000/unit
≥ 201 kBtu/hr $40/kBtu/hr

Which buildings can benefit

Hybrid RTUs are suitable for a range of commercial building types, including offices, schools, cinemas, retail stores, community centers, warehouses and more.

Commercial kitchens

Long-term care facilities
Warehouses
Manufacturing facilities
Wastewater treatment plants
Affordable multi-residential housing
Fitness centres
Multi-residential buildings

How it works

Your ESA will work with you to identify opportunities, develop an energy efficiency plan and maximize available incentives.

1. Identify projects

We’ll conduct a site assessment or provide incentives for a third party to uncover and maximize energy-saving opportunities.

2. Quantify incentives

We’ll provide technical support to optimize energy savings, build a business case, overcome barriers and calculate incentives.

3. Qualify projects

Once your internal approvals are secured, send us a confirmation of the final project details and timelines, and we’ll confirm incentive eligibility.

4. Receive incentives

After commissioning, we'll work with you to gather and submit the required paperwork. You can expect to receive your incentive within eight weeks.

Connect with an Energy Solutions Advisor

We’ll help you find ongoing savings and get your project underway.

We are currently experiencing technical issues with the Connect with Energy Solutions Advisor form. We apologize for the inconvenience and are actively working on a resolution.

Incentives for other upgrades

If you are a commercial, industrial or an affordable housing provider, our ESAs will work with you to offer incentives tailored to your building type - helping you reduce your costs and maximize energy efficiency.

Disclaimers

* Incentive applies to packaged single-zone hybrid RTUs installed outdoors on a commercial facility. Incentive applies to the replacement of an existing natural gas RTU or addition to a new construction building. The eligible equipment is a hybrid RTU that meets the minimum requirement of provincial and federal energy efficiency regulations. Split systems, standalone furnaces, make-up air units or dedicated outdoor air systems are not eligible. This equipment is not eligible for buildings for which the cooling requirement is satisfied by natural gas chillers, spaces that directly serve kitchens and spaces that are unconditioned. The incentive is based on equipment heating capacity and cannot exceed 50 percent of eligible equipment cost. Heating capacity refers to the RTU rated heating capacity at 47 F in kBtu/h. The offer is intended for hybrid RTUs with controls enabling a switchover temperature of 30 F (-1.1 C) or below or simultaneous RTU and gas furnace operation. The term “switchover temperature” for a hybrid RTU refers to the specific outside air temperature at or below which the unit switches between settings to maintain heating efficiency and comfort. Hybrid RTUs with capacities 201 kBtu/hr or higher may be eligible for custom incentives if they do not meet the criteria for prescriptive incentives.

Any references to energy savings are based on the assumption that participation in the Commercial Prescriptive Incentive program results in reduced natural gas consumption. Enbridge Gas does not make any claims regarding the specific amount of savings achieved.

Eligibility is based on program criteria and may vary. Please contact us for details.
