Technology spotlight: Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)

Match airflow to real-time building demand
VFDs automatically adjust fan and pump speeds based on real-time building demand. By delivering only the airflow needed, VFDs can improve comfort, extend equipment life and help heating and ventilation systems operate more efficiently.

Fans operate at full speed regardless of actual demand
System delivers constant, maximum air volume at all times
Full airflow needs to be heated
Results in natural gas and electricity use that is often higher than required
