How the program works


Visioning session

Session duration: 1 – 2 hours
Start with a no-cost Visioning Session to help define and prioritize project requirements.


Design workshop

Workshop duration: 1 day
Your team will:

  • Attend a facilitated design assistance workshop.
  • Meet with sustainable design experts and energy modellers.
  • Strategize how to maximize your homes’ energy and environmental performance.
  • Receive a final report with energy modelling results and recommendations.


Financial incentives

Receive up to $100,000* in post-construction incentives for homes that meet or exceed 15 percent better energy efficiency than the Ontario Building Code:

  • $2,000/home, up to 50 homes (1st time participant).
  • $1,000/home, up to 100 homes (2nd time participant).
  • $500/home, up to 200 homes (3rd time participant).

Twelve Stone Homes is designed to achieve 25 percent energy savings

Through the Savings by Design Residential program process, Twelve Stone Homes used air-tightness improvements, upgrades to wall and attic insulation and upgraded furnace efficiency to maximize the energy and environmental performance of their Mount Albert Village homes.

  • 33 percent projected annual natural gas savings.
  • 9 percent projected annual electricity savings.
  • 27 percent projected GHG reduction.
